Alaska Bears – Round 2!

First dusting of snowBy Linda Powell (Mossberg Director of Media Relations)

Last October, John Snow, Shooting Editor of Outdoor Life magazine and  I headed to the Togiak Wildlife Refuge west of Dillingham, Alaska, and almost in sight of the Bering Sea. Our mission was to field test Mossberg’s then soon-to-be released Patriot bolt-action rifle in 375 Ruger on a brown bear hunt.

Smooth Landing

The 2014 trip began with nice skies and a smooth landing…

Storm front approaching

…but the trip was cut short in part by this approaching storm.

Unfortunately, weather conditions and an invasion of our restricted hunting area by the Alaska Air National Guard prevented our success and ended our hunt early. We were disappointed, but vowed to return to complete the mission.

Stay tuned to this blog for reports from the field on “Alaska- Round 2,” as John and I are returning to Togiak and our quest for brown bears!
